Now in its tenth year, ‘Wide Open Space Festival’ is an annual three-day camping event celebrating contemporary and traditional Indigenous culture. Held at Ross River Resort, nestled in the majestic East MacDonnell Ranges, Northern Territory, the festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the Central Australian landscape.
‘Wide Open Space Festival’ opens with a Welcome to Country, Akeyulerre Smoking Ceremony, music, circus, dance, and aerial performances. The weekend continues with food and craft markets, as well as a range of panel discussions, workshops, arts and cultural programs. Look out for multidisciplinary artist Tamara Cornthwaite’s interactive mural consisting of numerous boards designed and cut to shape using iPad programming, painted on site by visitors throughout the festival, from 4 to 6 May.
