This is the first major survey of Mornington Peninsula artist John Baird, tracing Baird’s beginnings with Roar Studios through to key examples of his recent drawings, collages, paintings and sculptures.
Land- and seascapes form richly loaded evocations of past histories here, combining fresh observations with memories, shared experiences and storytelling. A frisson between the real and the imagined, The Authentic Consequence includes a wall of inspirations (photographs, sketches and musings), mini-tableaux comprising hand-built furniture, paintings and associated table-top sculptures, and a group of new paintings specially produced for the exhibition.
