‘I am a heart beating in the world’ is an exploration of the realities of living away from one’s ancestral homelands. Artists Abdul-Rahman Abdullah (AUS), Kashif Nadim Chaudry (UK), Lindy Lee (AUS), Leyla Stevens (AUS), Zadie Xa (UK) and Daniela Yohannes (Caribbean), visualise their experiences of diaspora across a display of artworks including sculpture, family photographs, collage, film and tapestry.
‘The movement of people and ideas creates a continuous redefinition of community and reinforces the fundamental role of family. Our ancestors witness everything,’ says Abdullah.
