Ever Present: First Peoples Art of Australia

Drawn from the collections of the National Gallery of Australia and The Wesfarmers Collection of Australian Art, Ever Present features more than 100 historical and contemporary works by over eighty Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from across Australia. From Albert Namatjira’s Ormiston Gorge, 1939, and Timothy Cook’s Kulama, 2010, to Julie Dowling’s Self-portrait: in our country, 2002, and Richard Bell’s Omega (Bell’s Theorem), 2013, the exhibition explores themes of identity, connection, Australia’s contested historical narratives, and the contemporary experience of First Nations artists practising today.
