Alex Seton: Everything was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt

Glass is a solid produced by cooling molten material that still holds its liquid memory. Here, Alex Seton contrasts the layered geological time evident in his favoured material of marble with this captive moment, presenting a series of glass installations that contemplate memory, forgetting, and loss with the passing of time.

In tribute to Newcastle’s discontinued Leonora Glassworks, who made aircraft bomb sights before moving into art glass, seven site-specific chandeliers riff upon light fittings that were ubiquitous in the entranceways of clubs and RSLs of post-WWII Australia.
