Abstraction and figuration are sweet bedfellows in the recent paintings, stoneware and earthenware pots of Angela Brennan. The artist’s subjects are informed by classical and contemporary sources, but are united in their delight for colour and wobbly geometric shapes. Movement, both in line and the meandering of narratives, appears across new mediums. The pots borrow motifs from the paintings and are described by the gallery as having a “grounded presence… earthy, bounded by their physicality and remaining within themselves.”
