Anna-Wili Highfield’s sculptural works explore the organic qualities and resistance of materials, generating tension between the complexity of form and the limitations and economy of the mediums used; from freshwater pearls, shells, coral and feathers to fabrics such as velvet, linen and felt, and torn paper. Highfield draws a connection between human and animal by engineering a moment of contact that emphasises both their similarities and differences, with focus on the sea turtle and its survival in a world affected by global warming.
