Until 30 April, in celebration of Australia’s creative and cultural connections with contemporary Asia, the City of Melbourne will be immersed in a program of live-works, visual, screen and literary art-forms from music to dance, theatre, talks, workshops, installation, cinema and more. Artists from across the Asia-Pacific region explore who we are, and where we might arrive through cultural engagement. Of the many festival highlights, ‘Ex Nilalang’ will be screening at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) from 9 February to 5 March. A project presented by Australian-Filipino video and performance collective Club Ate (Justin Shoulder and Bhenji Ra) will create urban mythologies and traditional Filipino folklore exploring queer identity through movement, language and costume. The one-night only hybrid party event on 2 March is hosted by Club Ate featuring their latest ‘Ex Nilalang’ incarnations, as well as video art, music, food and drinks.
