‘Colour on the Concrete’ explores different approaches and uses of colour and abstraction linking art, design and architecture from the late 1960s to contemporary art practice, bringing together major works from the UTS Art Collection. The project will be staged across multiple venues, with exhibitions at UTS Gallery, UTS Library and a self-guided tour of works displayed throughout the UTS Campus.
Many of the earlier works from the collection date from the same period as the original flagship buildings of the university – the UTS Tower on Broadway and the Kuringgai campus – both award-winning examples of Brutalist architecture from the early 1970s.
