Evangeline Cachinero: Consuming, Laughing, Forgetting

Using corrupt media as an influence for a large-scale multidisciplinary body of work, Cachinero tackles some of the issues surrounding the digitisation of art and how it affects us. The exhibition includes painting, video, installation, drawing, art books and photographs.

In her new paintings, Cachinero employs a new and exciting visual language that is generated by the aesthetics of corrupt or ‘glitched’ media. By translating these elements into her painting to create colourful, layered pieces, she explores how the digital world can be expressive and that the aesthetics that are created by digital ‘mistakes’ have an ethereal beauty.
