For almost thirty years, Tasmanian photographer Philip Kuruvita has focused his lens on the people of Launceston, north of the state. For this exhibition, Kuruvita shares his latest series of faces through images that showcase the unsung and quiet, yet important community members of his hometown.
Embracing the classical elegance of black-and-white photography, free of colour distraction, Kuruvita captures intimate encounters and experiences with selected unique and diverse personalities nestled within their own daily settings and environments, including artist Agnieszka Sikorska-Meikle in her studio, in a timeless aesthetic.
