Hatched: National Graduate Show 2024

Pushing the boundaries of traditional artmaking materials and processes, twenty-two early-career artist graduates respond to issues of identity, heritage, materialism, and human impact on the environment. Ka Yan SO (Kelly), influenced by diasporic experiences, investigates the essence and significance of ‘home’; Ruby Stevens examines constructions of value, care, and their complex connections to gendered labour by using an animatronic arm to make pancake mixture; Frances Malcomson focuses on unattended plants that infiltrate city sites; and Edie Duffy places eBay pictures onto a canvas to investigate her everyday surroundings.
