Jacqueline Balassa: Waterfalls and Carol’s Garden

Jacqueline Balassa’s landscapes have a beautiful poetic quality, delicately balanced between observation and imagination.

Drawn to the calm beauty and otherworldly quality of Early Italian Renaissance art: Giotto, Duccio, Veneziano; and traditional Chinese mountain-water painting’s imaginative interpretation of the visual world, Balassa has, in her words, “developed a very personal visual language which blends close observation of nature with my interpretation of these two great artistic traditions.” These works are inspired by her neighbour’s wild bush garden and its transition through the seasons and weather changes.
