Karla Dickens: My Mother’s Keeper

The Kandos School for Cultural Adaptation was the catalyst for this collaboration between artist Karla Dickens and writer Bruce Pascoe who have produced a film and a series of new photographs inspired by the urgent need to protect and conserve the environment. On screen Pascoe walks Gamilaaraay Country in the north-east of NSW accompanied by primary school children from the nearby Bingara Central School, wearing capes made by Dickens, visualising and embodying the next generation’s role, knowledge and custodianship in caring for the earth.
