Michelle Vine: Contested Biography

Viewers are invited to follow a line of investigation with Michelle Vine’s ‘Contested Biography’ which presents both findings and responses in Artspace Mackay. The multidisciplinary artist explores the myriad of intersections between science, history and art to reconfigure legacies in literature and science. Vine’s own work as an amateur naturalist and extensive research included retracing the Australian expedition of German naturalist, Amalie Dietrich and scrutinising text about Dietrich’s discoveries, held as historical authorities for a large part of the 20th century.
