Made to last: The conservation of art

Contemporary artists are renowned for engaging with traditional materials in innovative ways. Not only do artists push the limits of what a material can achieve, they engage these materials as part of the conceptual practice – building upon its history.

‘Made to last: the conservation of art’ explores investigative methods of art conservation and techniques used to preserve and document work for the future.  The exhibition looks at the work of five contemporary Australian artists – Brook Andrew, Penny Byrne, Juan Ford, Ghostpatrol and Claire Anna Watson – who engage with conservation as part of their practice to create new work.
