Melissa Boughey is inspired by the aesthetic, light and philosophical moments we connect to landscape, private spaces like the studio, the wetlands, and moving by car or foot though the countryside. Where as Andy Quilty draws on the coming and going of the psychological lay of the land in suburbia, particularly as it applies to masculine identity; he says “Drawing upon personal experience growing up in the southern Perth suburb of Rockingham, my work references the hyper masculine social environment to which I am both participant and spectator.”
