Origins

This exhibition is an exploration of beginnings and endings – of family mythologies, births, deaths, and cosmic cycles. Beginning with a focus upon the minutiae of the everyday in its grainy, gritty glory and then expanding outwards to consider the source of life.

Origins features photographs and paintings such as Naarm/Melbourne-based artist Helen Maudsley’s The Arrival, 1965, and the late Dorothy Braund’s Mrs John Brack and Freda, 1954 – drawn from The University of Western Australia’s Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art, the largest public collection of women’s art in Australia.
