Paul Ryan’s solo show will be comprised of new paintings from the New Zealand-born, now New South Wales-based artist. Camille Klose, Gallery Curator explains, “Landscapes have been reimaged to a time when Wollongong and the South NSW Coast were pristine and pure. The serene pre-colonised landscapes along with a series of portraits of the over-dressed and pompous colonel ‘Fieldsy’, together create a body of work that highlight the absurd nature of colonialism… Without reference to the violence and horror of this time, Ryan’s works make
clear the incompatibility of two worlds coming together.”
