Curated by local artist Guan Wei and China-based Cang Xin, the group exhibition that explores Chinese tradition and heritage as pluralistic via themes of religious witchcraft, mythology, folk art and culture and the spirit of orthodox scholars. Artists include Amy Fu, (AUS/CHN) Cang Xin (CHN), Guan Wei (AUS/CHN), Jiang Zhe (CHN), Palla Jerroff (AUS/ CHN), Yang Jinsong (CHN), Zhang Jin (CHN) and Jin Sha (AUS/CHN); as well as Yang Xifa (AUS/CHN) – whose paintings use the human body as a medium while utilising traditional Chinese materials, including fine Xuangcheng writing paper. And, Chinese experimental multimedia artist, Gu Xiaoping (CHN), incorporates traditional Chinese woodware ink tools into installations, photography and video.
CPAC’s 3D virtual tour, created by videographer Dominik Mersch, incorporates state of the art technology that allows art connoisseurs to walk through the exhibition one click at a time. For a fully immersive experience, audiences can engage with active markers throughout the gallery that provide curatorial insights and artist interviews.
