The Art Gallery of Western Australia presents a showcase of Richard Avedon’s most iconic and charismatic works. ‘Richard Avedon People’ surveys around ninety of Avedon’s captivating black and white photography from his groundbreaking fashion photography to his portraits of famous faces such as Elizabeth Taylor, Malcolm X, Truman Capote, Bob Dylan and Twiggy.
At the core of his artistic practice was a profound concern with the emotional and social freedom of the individual in society. Notable for his bold compositions and clarity, Avedon’s works are arresting in the ability to capture the intricacies of famous personalities and foster a sense of familiarity. The first time Richard Avedon’s solo exhibition will be displayed in Western Australia, it is one not to be missed.
