Richard Blackwell: Monograph 2009-2018
Flinders Lane Gallery
Richard Blackwell explores material, concept and design, finding commonalities across technologies and architectures in built environments through a network of objects and geometric forms. This monograph illustrates Blackwell’s interdisciplinary practice from 2009 to 2018, offering insight into his thought-process and techniques supported by artist statements, exhibition texts and essays by Andrew Gaynor, Gan Uyeda, Patsy Payne, Roy Marchant and Trent Walker. Together they highlight solo and group shows, artist-in-residence, and public projects both here and abroad.
In the book’s foreword, Flinders Lane Gallery Director, Claire Harris, invites the reader to ‘enter the rich alternate multiverses of Richard Blackwell and join him in exploring the shifts between reality and the virtual, art and object, technology and the hand-made’ – an offer worth accepting.
