Rick Amor is exhibiting new work in Brisbane this month lingering in a curiosity for the surreal and the symbolic. Self-portrait at 68 (2016) is the most recent in a long line of the artist’s depictions of himself, offering insight into how the painter sees the nature of his being. The show is comprised of 14 oil paintings and 6 watercolours depicting rural and city landscapes with a man often appearing alone in their foreboding surroundings as well as seven drawings in pencil, charcoal and conté, testament to his skill as a draftsman.
