RITUAL: the past in the present

‘RITUAL: the past in the present’ showcases work by over 30 Australian Indigenous and Asia Pacific contemporary artists, exploring community and cultural ritual and customs that shape personal and collective identity, and our sense of belonging in the world. Themes include initiation, marriage, death and funeral ceremony, healing, natural medicine, body adornment, scarification, song, dance, drumming, intoning, spiritual and sacrificial offerings both as celebration and contrition, and connection to ancestral beings and spirits who continue to guide and shape the present world.
