New South Wales artist Sandra Kaji O’Grady’s practice investigates gaps and overlaps between text-based systems of meaning and visual codes, exploring the limits of textual legibility – referencing camouflage, commercial signage, misprints, patterns of interference, and skywriting.
With a background in architecture and philosophy, in Boding, O’Grady uses collage, digital printmaking, hardedge abstraction, installation, and trompe l’oeil painting with a focus on the communication and monitoring of risk and danger – that extends from the banal trip hazard through to existential catastrophe.
