Canberra-based artist Ham Darroch draws upon modernist art history while reflecting on contemporary life, being interested in the relationship between art and music, geometry and architecture. Having worked as studio assistant to Bridget Riley for two decades,
it’s a relationship that has a bearing on his own practice.
In Harp Frequency, new works on canvas and paper are presented with a site-responsive wall painting; in Darroch’s work, syncopated rhythm and quiet harmony in colour and form invoke an uplifting experience.
