Teelah George’s latest exhibition presents a collection of works comprising paint and textiles, employing the process of reconstructing materials to make change and present new images.
This desire was initiated by a chance encounter with a decrepit, sun-bleached banner, once a printed advertisement now deteriorated. A canvas border attempts to hold the sparse threads together in order to present George’s Effect of Dose on Taste (New Phase) (2015) as an art work, a gesture that articulates the paradoxical will to keep, collect and archive materials regardless of their inevitable demise.
