South Australian-based multimedia artist Yasemin Sabuncu often explores ideas of belonging, identity, liminality, spirituality, the environment, race, health, and being “the other.” The artist continues this investigation in Alchemical, reclaiming her space and power as an artist affected by chronic health conditions and offering ways to find safety, rest, home, and love in a body that has been labelled wrong or causes pain and disability: “Emerging from this chrysalis, I create works that help others navigate the uncertainties of life and existence in such complex times.”
