Making its South Australian debut, the ‘2016 Stencil Art Prize’ comprises work by more than 80 finalists from over 20 countries. Influenced by the ephemeral nature of street art, these stencil-based works blend pop-culture imagery and global politics to visualise the growing concerns of this next generation of socially engaged artists.
Highlights include 3-Rex (2016), Pablo Ursua’s 3D painting of a dinosaur with 3D glasses for viewing, and Tinku’s 2016 winning work, Tributo (2016), a haunting painting that uses salt and soil gathered from countries hit by state violence and discrimination.
