Curated by Malcolm Thomson, the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition sees Melbourne’s Toorak Village on Toorak Road transformed into a public gallery, featuring ninety-seven contemporary sculptural works on display in the shop windows of small businesses and side streets until October 12.
Eleven large sculptures purchased by the businesses from previous exhibitions are bolted along the sidewalks.
This year, three non-acquisitive prizes were awarded to three sculptural artists. The $2,000 Judges Encouragement Award was taken out by Andrew Harry with Easterly 1. The $3,000 Toorak Village Traders Award was won by Jessie Yvette Journoud-Ryan with Heavy Weight at Jade+Amber, and the winning $10,000 Orchard Piper Award was given to Phu La, with his exquisite ceramic and mixed media piece titled Crossing Borders.
