A three-time Archibald and Brisbane Portrait Prize finalist, and two-time finalist in The University of Queensland National Self-Portrait Prize, this retrospective of David Paulson’s portraiture oeuvre features seven large portraits on canvas and a series of smaller self-portrait works on paper.
Among the works on show are Burning in the colour, 2024 – a finalist in the 2024 Brisbane Portrait Prize, depicting Indigenous artist Rosella Namok applying a patina to a bronze sculpture – and Portrait of Joe Furlonger, 2023 – a 2023 Salon des Refusés selection.
