With the woman as her protagonist, Fraser’s images are witty and sit in the tradition of
fairy tales, nursery rhymes and the mythology of individual families. Each work begins with a memory, or a story that Fraser has heard. “Everything has a germ in something”, she explained. “Everything exists somewhere first.”
Dealing with the complexities of human nature, Fraser’s linocuts pull the viewer into a narrative where subtle ‘shades of gray’ offer multiple meanings and emotional responses.
