‘As an emerging artist living with disability from an acquired brain injury and mental illness, my art practice is both my voice and my mindfulness.’
– Louise Marson.
Melbourne-based artist Louise Marson emerges from lockdown with her first solo exhibition, ‘Breath’, featuring 27 works from three series of works: Dialogue of the OK!, Threaded Passages and Forging A Head. Together, they reflect three aspects of Marson’s creative practice: isolation through illness, and connection and healing through making.
Working from her studio at Collingwood Yards, Marson works natural recycled stone such as marble, travertine, slate and limestone, into intricate mosaic illustrations to tell her stories.
‘These non-figurative works let go of the confines of the traditional square or rectangle frame. The marble undulates, or you could say it ‘breathes’ again.’
