A delectable incongruity marks the oil paintings of Alice Wormald. For these works she has collaged the imagery, photos and objects that surround us like pottery, rock gardens, flowers and fabric to create fragmented compositions. Guided by her intuition, and toying with this ‘reference material’, she adds literal and metaphorical depth with an unusual dance between positive and negative space reaching for what the gallery describes as a ‘perceptive and poetic visual logic.’
