Katie-Ann Houghton: Meander

Canberra-based glassmaker Katie-Ann Houghton draws inspiration from architectural details, exploring the relationship between form and pattern.

In design, ‘meander’ refers to a continuous, flowing and interlocking motif, often expressed through decorative, linear lines. The term carries a deeper significance for Houghton – reflecting both an evolution of practice and fascination with urban landscapes. Influenced by time spent wandering through cities, meandering paths shaped by experience, time and the inherent nature of glass informs Houghton’s works. Works that demand both technical precision and an intuitive understanding of beauty and form.
