Handmade Universe: From craft to code and the spaces between

Seven artists, designers, and makers working across varied disciplines such as craft, coding, astronomy, and botany exhibit existing and newly commissioned works in the company of sixty-eight rare items from the State Library Victoria and other collections.

Highlights include Deanna Hitti’s A is for Alam (pen), 2022, a room-sized installation of 156 printed cyanotypes, Sarah Spencer’s Stargazing, 2018, a giant knitted map of the night sky, and Mandy Nicholson’s Dharangalk Biik|Star Country, 2022, a mural wrapping the gallery walls that imagines the Wurundjeri Universe.
