This exhibition includes paintings and drawings based on observations from the road with particular emphasis on properties in areas farmed by his ancestors and extended family. Goodacre’s style in these works was influenced by the 1977 Phillip Noyce film ‘Backroads’, which explores classic Australian country as viewed from a moving vehicle.
These paintings join historical reference points of the evolution of farming in the area, as experienced by members of his family – typical settler farmers – such as the work including the foundations of the original Goodacre family farmhouse, “Sunbeam”.
