‘Janet Laurence: a case study’ is curated specifically for senior school students and includes iconic pieces from the artist’s practice including Blood and Chlorophyll.
This large-scale installation, the most recent work on display, was configured by the artist herself and uses a locally rescued red gum. Her work invokes a sense of wonder, empathy and curiosity in her audience. “Art, if it engages,” Laurence has said, “can linger in the mind the way that pure information can’t.” With the focus on the HSC curriculum, artist and educator, Kate Caddey, has developed a comprehensive case study publication to complement the exhibition.
