The exhibition consists of a series of new wall mounted pieces. Each work encapsulates an emotive response to the wide open spaces of the Australian landscape and how they affect us. Loughlin’s first solo exhibition since 2011, the work alludes to air and space more than her previous practice.
Loughlin, rather than representing place itself, is more interested in the viewer and how they perceive place and respond to it. She is influenced by the way in which the romantic painters drew on the relationship between the landscape and the viewer; their ideas interest her rather than their dramatic paintings.
