Abstract painter, Lara Merrett’s upcoming exhibition ‘Doublethink’ presents a series of vibrant and organic looking paintings that demonstrate a free form of aesthetic detail.
Made from acrylic and ink on linen, the materials add to her appealing practice and style. Merrett’s paintings appear as peaceful and painterly landscapes that reveal colours that gracefully merge to create unusual patterns and unfamiliar forms. Each painting demonstrates the gentle layers of paint applied to the canvas showing a continuous overlapping of contrasting colours. The brightness of colour featured against the blackened backgrounds reinforces their luminous characteristics.
