After a recent sculptural residency for ‘The Opposite House’, Beijing, Luke Chiswell returns to Canberra with a renewed focus on process. Phrases, mark making and found materials comprise this new body of work from the artist, whose planned and unpredictable acts have a visual language of their own. ‘Digging in the Dark’ is a search for what is uncertain. Some pieces have been shaped with foraged materials, burnt or destroyed, to double down on this notion of changing states and chance.
