Phillippa Carnemolla: Botanical Songforms

This exhibition presents work produced in response to a year long residency at the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens throughout 2012. Carnemolla presents a range of sculpture and jewellery that combines natural elements, such as plant with animal, to celebrate some of the universal geometries she observed in nature during her residency.

The principal piece on exhibition, The Breathing Conifer, is a collaborative piece that grew out of a community arts project where Carnemolla held workshops for young people with disabilities. Workshop participants worked on copper plates, which are incorporated into the final sculpture on display in the outdoor fernery of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
