Gamilaraay, Wailwan and Biripi digital media artist r e a works across photography, video, sound, performance, and multi-sensory installation.
Known for illuminating the ongoing impacts of colonisation on queer and Indigenous bodies, this exhibition presents a new commission alongside a curated selection of works spanning more than three decades. Informed by new media theory, themes of intersectionality, positionality, memory, and representation are addressed as – in the layering of text, image, and colour – r e a traces transgenerational histories, interrogating how attitudes toward race are embedded in both art and language.
