Canberra’s leading contemporary festival ‘Art, Not Apart’ returns for its fifth year, on March 19.

The festival focuses on presenting a diverse mix of contemporary Canberra art, that also celebrates the richness of life through art. Festival goers are encouraged to connect and appreciate varying perspectives. This year artists have been invited to explore the theme of ‘patterns of now’.  The festival will be held across unique indoor and outdoor spaces across New Acton, parts of Lake Burley Griffin, and Westside Acton Park.

The festival also sees the return of after parties, F_ck Art, Let’s Party and Sound and Fury.  F_ck Art, Let’s Party will feature large-scale projections, acrobatics and performers, while Sound and Fury returns to the Nishi Gallery with a wild performance art party titled ‘Live. Art. Party. Rocket’.

This year sees an expanded curatorial panel, including: Visual Arts Curator –Emeritus Professor David Williams AM, Music Curator – producer, publicist and presenter Frank Madrid, and Performance Art Curator – Artistic director Chenoeh Miller. Festival producer David Caffery says, “Art, Not Apart has entered a new and diverse stage of programming. Drawing on the strong local connection and expertise of Williams, Madrid and Miller will ensure the festival best represents the Canberra arts scene in powerful and organic ways.”
