Dion Beasley: Six Dogs

Alywarr artist and illustrator Dion Beasley is known for his unique observations of everyday life in remote communities; the families, streetscapes and, most notably, camp dogs that rule the streets.

A deaf artist with muscular dystrophy, Beasley uses drawing to communicate with the world; the complex relationships between these rag-tag groups of dogs and the social structures that exist between animals and humans that are depicted through his drawings. In Six Dogs, Beasley captures the charismatic nature of these animals – distilling their movements, personalities and quirks into his art.
