Rebecca Baumann: WA Focus

Rebecca Baumann’s work spans sculpture, installation and performance. Her practice is driven by a formal and conceptual exploration of materials through kinetic installations that engage audiences through their experiential, fleeting and emotive qualities, as well as the choreography of colour and movement. Throughout her practice Baumann has often used ordinary, found, low-tech machines such as clocks, fans, ball throwers, and more recently computer-driven signage mechanisms, to activate the moment when the viewing experience is changed.

For ‘WA Focus’, Baumann presents a site-specific installation, creating an immersive experience, which explores colour, light and time. Her work, Automated Colour Field (2011), a hypnotic display of ceaselessly turning flip-clocks, will be on display to coincide with the exhibition.
