The Guildhouse Collections Project: The Disquiet

Five artists draw inspiration from the Progressive Art Movement – who used prints and posters as immediate and accessible mediums for political expression – to tackle pressing twenty-first century concerns. From Bin Bai’s video game-like imagery that promises utopian virtual worlds while exposing socio-economic power structures; to Truc Truong contrasting global brands like Coke and Louis Vuitton with Vietnamese traditions, reflecting the complexities of multicultural identity and racial oppression; to Stephanie Doddridge creating a vegetable garden in a shopping trolley, addressing the issue of food insecurity amid the cost-of-living crisis.
