Zoe Brand explores the performative qualities of jewellery through the incorporation of ready-made objects and text. Her practice reflects an interest in materialism, consumerism, and human behaviour, evident in her clever wordplay as well as her considered processes and choice of materials. Here, Brand employs traditional gilding techniques to apply proclamations on discarded glass items, challenging conventional notions of trash and treasure and creating opportunities for conversation and moments of connection. Her work, infused with succinct phrases and select materials, effortlessly vacillates between the comic and the tragic.
