Artitija Fine Art: CELEBRATING 10

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Artitija Fine Art has established itself as one of the preeminent Indigenous art galleries of Western Australia. To mark this milestone, the gallery is hosting an exhibition ‘CELEBRATING 10’ and will feature a special ‘Art Parade’ presented by Indigenous art expert Susan McCulloch OAM.

The ‘Art Parade’ is part informative art lecture/part theatre that enables a wide range of art to be seen in a lively and engaging way. A number of paintings are exhibited on the walls while others are ‘paraded’ by a team of assistants who hold each work up for the audience as McCulloch offers commentary on the art of the regions and individual artists and their work. The audience is provided with an illustrated catalogue with all works available for sale at the end of the parade.

The exhibition will showcase many of the artists the gallery has shown and brought to Perth over the past decade as well as exhibiting for the first time extraordinary paintings by artists from emerging art centres in remote Australia.

Sourcing art mostly through Indigenous owned art centres from remote communities, Artitja Fine Art hold four exhibitions annually in a gallery space. Outside of these they operate by appointment from their home, which they have recently extended to include an architect designed studio space which will also double up as short term accommodation for art loving travellers.
